Move to the file location for the game: C drive > (User name) > Project Zomboid > Saves. Clearing map game filesĪnother fix you can try is deleting the data files for the game maps from the system. Now restart Project Zomboid & the steam client to check if the map error got fixed. Players using mods related to maps might face this error as these packs got added by the community users & not the official developers. 
Head over to the maps section in the game settings & enable them.
Click on it & let the process complete. 
You’ll see the option to Verify the integrity of game files.Under properties, head over to the Local Files section.
Click on the arrow on the right side of the play button. 
Navigate to the game library > Project Zomboid.
